Emphasizing the Usefulness of Llamas - Kristen & Pauline Funk

We are a mother-daughter team (Pauline & Kristen) located in SE Minnesota. We were introduced to llamas through 4-H, which was supported by Art Kennel and other local breeders in the 1990’s.

We developed our philosophy from having worked with the llamas closely during training for performance competition and an interest in using the fiber to produce yarn. We believe that llamas can fit into the complete country lifestyle involving training, breeding and fiber production on an agricultural property or in a rural small acreage subdivision where the llama is seen primarily as a pet.

Pets can fulfill the same functions as llamas on a large breeding operation except the breeding; they can be performance llamas, companions (great fun with grandchildren), cart pullers, and fiber producers to name a few. Our breeding philosophy then extends to searching for breeding stock which exhibit our requirements for conformation and fine fiber, plus personality for pets and performance.
